Green Policy

As part of the commitment to move to a Carbon Neutral City by 2030, Southampton City Council has
launched the Green City Charter with a vision to create a cleaner, green, healthier and more sustainable City.

Here at Tudor House & Garden we have pledged our support and we’re changing the way we do things to
become a more sustainable and greener museum. We are also proud to be part of the Arts Council
England Accelerator programme to share and learn practice and insights with the wider cultural sector.

Here are some of our current changes:

• The café has a living green roof for local wildlife to enjoy
• We have moved to biodegradable takeaway cups, paper straws
• We source our items locally where possible
• We are supplied by 100% green electricity
• We use recycled materials where possible for learning activities
• We have stopped the automatic printing of receipts in our café
• We now offer digital download of maps instead of handing them out automatically
• We are also looking into being single use plastic free
