Toilets, including accessible toilets and baby change facilities can be found through the café and at the entrance to the Work Room, through the garden.
We are currently not able to offer a Changing Places toilet.
Tudor House has limited accessibility for wheelchair users.
The public areas in the building which are not accessible to people with mobility impairment or wheelchair users are the basement (accessed by steep steps), some areas of the garden and King John’s Palace (accessed by steep steps) and the attic (accessed via steep steps).
There are platform lifts to enable access to the upstairs of the house. Please be aware that larger mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs cannot use these lifts due to size and weight limitations. There is a size limitation of 1.1m x 0.8m. This is due to the limitations of the lifting equipment which was restricted by historic approval when installed as the house has ancient scheduled monument status. Please do contact us in advance of your visit to confirm that the lifts are available for use.
Due to fire safety regulations, only two wheelchairs are able to access the upstairs of the house at any one time. We offer free admission for those accompanying visitors with disabilities.
For people who are deaf or have impaired hearing, we provide the script to the Big Show, and the audio guide as a print out. Tudor House and Garden is also fitted with an induction loop.
All labels and other information can be provided in large print, please ask at the entrance.
Assistance dogs are welcome.
If you are visiting with young children, stop by the Explore Room for a range of fun activities and resources.
There are several blue badge parking bays close to the museum. Further details on nearby blue badge parking can be found here.
For reasons of security and safety, Tudor House and Garden has a maximum bag size policy in place. We’re sorry but items over 40cm x 80cm will not be admitted to the Museum.
However, you can store these luggage items with staff at the front desk for £3 per item (For Tudor House Customers only). Please ask at the front desk on arrival.
